There was a packed congregation for the St John Singers performance as an act of devotion of Stainer's 'Crucifixion' on the evening of Good Friday, 22nd April 2011, which took place in Downton Church, Nr Salisbury. This was the twenty first annual occasion when the choir has performed this work in a different church in the Diocese. This year the choir was joined by professional soloists Ian Wicks, tenor, Director of Music The Cathedral School, Salisbury and Musical Director of the Romsey Singers and Hugh Hetherington a Lay Vicar in Salisbury Cathedral choir who sang the bass solos for the first time. The choir's resident accompanist, David Coram, accompanied on the organ with extra playing hands on the upper register from Joseph Wicks during the singing of the hymns.
