St John Singers presents our Summer Concert in St Thomas's with soloists and orchestra. As always it will be a warm and friendly evening with wine in the interval and a chance to chat to friends.
The concert contains three contrasting
works. We hear the epitome of the Classical style, in
Haydn’s Missa ‘Sancti Nicolai’; melodic restraint set
against Romantic outbursts in Mendelssohn’s
Hear my prayer; and Malcolm Archer’s Vespers -
beautiful settings of texts by Shakespeare, Yeats,
C S Lewis, and from the Book of Common Prayer.
We are delighted to be accompanied by:
Sam Bristow (Mendelssohn), and by an orchestra
led by Daphne Moody, for the Haydn and Archer.
This concert will be in aid of choir funds.
